Creation Stories is a 2021 comedy-drama biopic about the Scottish music manager and Creation Records founder Alan McGee. The film is based on his 2013 autobiography Creation Stories: Riots, Raves and Running a Label. McGee is portrayed by Leo Flanagan in his teenage years and Ewen Bremner as an adult and shows his journey to becoming one of the most successful businessmen in the 1990's music business and gaining the title 'President of Pop'. McGee's label Creation Records founded in 1983 and was home to many successful bands of the late '80s and '90s (which also made up the movie's soundtrack) including The Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine, Primal Scream, Teenage Fanclub, Super Furry Animals and of course, Oasis.

With the film being from Alan McGee's perspective, it is slightly fantasised and megalomanic but this gives it a unique and interesting touch. Irvine Welsh's writing blends perfectly with the story, making it amiable and dark at the same time. The cast of actors was superb; Ewen Bremner (probably best known as Trainspotting's Spud) was superb and a perfect fit for the lead role and Jason Isaacs' minor role as a junkie Hollywood producer was scene-stealing and hilarious. This film promises to be a fun portrayal of a colourful life that I felt was delivered with class.

Score - 8/10
